Community

A place to connect.

The Age Connects West Midlands Charity Shop in Boldmere is much more than a place to browse and buy. It's a friendly, welcoming community space where people come not just for great value items, but for conversation, connection and a sense of belonging.

Every visit, donation and purchase helps strengthen our local community and supports older adults and residents across Birmingham.

Where conversations come as easily as the bargains

For many people, popping into the shop is as much about human connection as it is about shopping. Our shop offers:

  • A warm, friendly welcome
  • Opportunities to chat with volunteers and familiar faces
  • A relaxed, social environment where everyone is welcome

Championing recycling & sustainability

Good for your wallet. Good for the planet. By giving pre-loved items a new home, our charity shop proudly promotes recycling, upcycling and sustainable living.

Every donated item — from clothing and accessories to books and homeware — helps:

  • Reduce waste and landfill
  • Extend the life of quality, usable goods
  • Support environmentally responsible shopping
  • Offer affordable alternatives to buying new

Great value for small prices

Our shelves are filled with good-quality items at small, affordable prices, making the shop accessible to everyone. Visitors can enjoy regularly refreshed stock, bargains on everyday essentials, unique and vintage finds, and affordable gifts and home items. Every purchase directly supports our work across the city.

Supporting local people when it matters most

Through close partnership with our Advice & Information team, the Boldmere Charity Shop helps discreetly support individuals and families facing hardship. When someone is identified as being in need, we can provide clothing, household items and essential everyday goods at no cost, ensuring people receive support with kindness, respect and dignity.

Donate to our Boldmere Charity Shop

Donations are the heart of our charity shop and every item you give helps support people in our community. We warmly welcome donations of:

  • Good-quality clothing and accessories
  • Shoes, bags and jewellery
  • Homeware and small household items
  • Books and bric-a-brac

If it's good enough to pass on, it's good enough to donate. Donations can be dropped off directly at our Boldmere shop — please check opening hours or speak to a team member for any item guidelines, and don't forget to sign up to Gift Aid if you are a taxpayer.
