Services

Connection, companionship and community in later life.

Feeling connected to others is essential for our wellbeing — yet many people experience loneliness as they get older. We create safe, welcoming spaces where meaningful relationships can grow.

Befriending services

Our befriending service supports older adults who feel lonely or disconnected. Trained volunteers offer regular companionship — face to face, by telephone or virtually.

Activity & friendship groups

  • A safe, friendly space to meet others
  • Opportunities to chat, laugh and connect
  • Activities that build confidence and social skills
  • A warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone is welcome

The Friends First project

A city-wide initiative led by ACWM supporting people aged 50 and over to reduce isolation and build meaningful connections — friendship groups across Birmingham facilitated by trained Reconnectors and friendly volunteers.
